Current Project (continued...updated...)

Here are a few updated pics of the massive bench/pot I'm building around the palm tree. I know it's not the most exciting thing to look at but it's the most exciting thing I've done this week! haha. Had a good weekend with a bunch of guys I surf with and have started to hang out more. Good times. Caught a few waves, sunny spring weather, about 22 degrees and now back to highs of 12-17 all week! Oh and lets add some wind, rain and clouds to the mix. Yes, spring is starting to finally appear here it just does it 1 out of every 10 days!

Current Project

The means to an end. That's what it's about when you have a need to surf! Yes, surfing is free but the gas to get there isn't. This isn't Venice Beach where I can hop on my longboard and 10 minutes later be in the water surfing average waves (VB isn't that great...haha)

The weather is finally warming up here and should be close to 20 here on Sunday (almost 70) and it's nice to have a break from the wind, rain, and generally crappy Victorian winter weather. Let's hope the waves stick around.

Spring?

Everyone keeps saying spring is around the corner. It's 10 degree's Celsius and the water temp is an ice cream headache induced 13 degrees. Spring lives around the corner in another state. It was nice enough last night to get out on the long board and try out the new bearings around town. I snapped a few photos of the city from the Docklands. I live about 2 blocks from the river and the beginning of the Docklands. It was nice to get out on the board and cruise. I get a few weird looks from the city folk. It’s not your typical California city.

6-10 Foot surf this weekend on the surf coast. The swells have been drilling the coast lately and there were some epic waves this past weekend as well! The single fin board is ripping and might get out this weekend after the 8-10 foot days pass by!!

WAVES WAVES WAVES!

Since the first week of August the Surf Coast has been getting some amazing South and South West swells hitting its coast! The best part of the surf coast is it's many different facing beaches and reefs! You can basically drive 50 kilometers in either direction from Torquay and experience different winds, varrying wave sizes and tides all with one simple weekend swell. I'm slowly learning the right places to surf with ideal conditions (wind, swell direction, tides.) I'm currently riding an old school 5'8" single fin, pin tail board that rips and is ideal for 3 foot + waves, it's fun to say the least! The local surfers are very simple here. Drop in on a "bloke" and simply slide off the wave and go about your day. The surf edicate is friendly and helpful. I've met a few local Bells Beach and Winki rippers and they've given me the heads up on a quite a few solid, uncrowded breaks. Not the typical Venice Beach surf scene. I like it here! haha.

Here are a few pics of the weekend swell! It was awesome! This weekend is suppose to be another 2-3 feet bigger! Sounds like fun!


I tried to provide some perspective of the swell size. The first wave is about a 2 footer and the last one a 4 footer. We were surfing 4-5 footers all day Saturday!

Back to Basics

Long overdue and much needed! I came out to Australia with goals and desires and shifted that towards having the opportunity to ride some stellar waves on the other side of the world and enjoy life. It's simple really, get a job, work, surf, play some guitar, surf more and have fun. I've some stellar surf at Winki, Juc, Birdrock, Southside Bells Beach, 13th Beach break, Torquay, and a couple more.
My awesome sister wants some pictures (who is pregnant, really pregnant, and due any moment.) I'm stoked. Uncle Saeth. Sounds about right. Sarah has requested pictures of anything throughout Australia. The $80 camera I bought off Craigslist, used, and 4 years ago isn't getting much use at the moment. It isn't broken and works fine I just don't take many pictures. Here are a few from the iPhone. Enjoy!

Imagine what the 6 footers looked like a couple weeks ago and a couple weeks before that! 10 foot faces! Perfect shoulders and they just peeled!!! Looking forward to some stellar offshore winds and good surf this weekend!

Ships come and go through roughly every 10-15 minutes, it's the entrance to the bay. Fun to sit and admire the ships. Fun place. Cheap Coffee. Excellent food
